It is with great excitement that I share with you, my faithful collectors and followers, a sneak peak at my soon-to-be new art studio! The journey to today has been joy-filled as I continue to work with our build team to design the layout and make selections that will make this a place just shy of heaven for me. Best of all, it is promised that work will be complete by late spring and soon I will have my very own space for creating and painting. Rumor has it I may never leave home again!
I must give all due credit to my husband, Frank, who asked me a couple of years ago if I wanted to build a dedicated studio. At that time, I was happily painting away in the third bay of our garage and content with just keeping things simple. I was also quite sure I didn't want to feel the pressure to paint that would surely come with a 'real' studio. Over time, as Frank continued to bring it up and my garage space became more confining, I became less resistant to the idea and wholeheartedly began to imagine the possibilities. Finally, about a year ago, when Frank suggested I meet with our builder, "just to see what he has to say," I was onboard with a growing bucket of excitement. I did at least forewarn him when I said, "You know, Frank, me going to talk with our builder will be like me going to look at a puppy!" Needless to say, I came away from that meeting totally convinced this was something I (we!) had to do, and ready to to make it happen.
Stay tuned for more progress shots and an eagerly anticipated Open House later this year, to which you all will be invited! I cannot wait to share not only my space, but the inspirations that will become paintings and the joy of working in the studio of my dreams.
